TreeHouse Foods, based in Oak Brook, Illinois, has announced a voluntary recall of certain frozen waffle products due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The recall was issued on October 18, 2024, and affects products distributed across the United States and Canada.
The recall comes after routine testing at a manufacturing facility detected the presence of Listeria monocytogenes, a bacteria that can cause serious and sometimes fatal illness in young children, elderly individuals, pregnant women, and those with weakened immune systems. While healthy individuals may only experience mild symptoms like fever and nausea, Listeria infections can lead to serious complications, including miscarriages and stillbirths.
The affected frozen waffles were distributed across the United States and Canada under various brand names. TreeHouse Foods has provided specific UPC codes, lot numbers, and best-by dates to help consumers and retailers identify the recalled products. These details can be found on the company’s official website.
As of now, no illnesses have been reported in connection with the recalled waffles. However, TreeHouse Foods is urging consumers to check their freezers and either dispose of the affected products or return them to the store where they were purchased for a full refund. Anyone experiencing symptoms of Listeria infection is advised to contact a healthcare provider immediately.
TreeHouse Foods has stated that they are working closely with health authorities to ensure consumer safety and prevent further contamination issues. The company has also reassured customers that it is conducting a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the contamination and prevent similar incidents in the future.
For more information, consumers can visit the official TreeHouse Foods website or check the U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA) website for updates.
